You can get involved by either joining the committee, helping out at the monthly maintenance sessions or helping at the annual show.
The committee meets on the first Sunday of the month at 11:00. All members are welcome to listen in and all are welcome to get involved.
The site has a couple ground maintenance sessions that run on the last Wednesday and Sunday of each month. The events start at 10am and run till midday. The next session can be found under Events, as a rule if it is raining badly then you can assume the session is cancelled.
We are looking for volunteers to help with the maintenance of the grounds. The purpose is for site members to volunteer a couple of hours of their time to help. We understand that many people work full time so we hope those people can show their support on the Sunday session. All help will be gratefully received and will benefit all members. This is essential work which allows the site to stay tidy and functioning.
This could include maintaining the hedges and main paths around the allotment or general maintenance of the shed and communal areas. Why not boost your community spirit and come along and help? If you are new to the site this is a great way to meet other plotholders and become part of the community. For more information on specific dates and activities please see the notice boards by the entrance to the site. During these sessions you can choose how you are able to help so there is always something you can get involved with. If you have any ideas about what the working parties should be used for please speak to a member of the committee.
You can also volunteer to help out at various events running through the year including the summer show and plant sale. For information on upcoming events see the events section.
Examples of work done include annual hedge maintenance, waterproofing the brick-work on the site hut and clearing areas of brambles around the edge of the grounds.
Recently we have built the wood-chippings compound which has proved to be very popular
